Virtual Proof of Technology: new features of WebSphere Liberty

In this online POT we will show how Liberty provides a path to Hybrid Cloud for Java applications. We will show why Liberty is an excellent runtime for microservices applications, and then drill down into the new enhancements in Liberty. Liberty’s continuous delivery model provides new optionally installable features that can be added to an existing installation with no requirement for a version upgrade or migration. The enhancements in March 2016 include:

  • Discovery of REST API endpoints for applications in Liberty;
  • Kerberos Constrained Delegation for SPNEGO;
  • Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) for web services;
  • Single archives for all product features;
  • Automatic expansion of application archives;
  • Hardware cryptographic (PKCS11) keystore support;
  • And a very long list of enhancements from previous mini-releases.

As you can see, IBM is heavily investing into WebSphere Liberty and the advancements and quality of the product are mind blowing. You really have to give it a try to get as excited as I am.
